Re-releases of the album contain a bonus Eyeball Records sampler CD. There are several different versions of the sampler, and each one contains different tracks.
I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love is often regarded as a concept album. It is believed to involve two Bonnie and Clyde-esque characters who are eventually gunned down in the desert. In My Chemical Romance's next album, Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge, the unnamed man supposedly then finds himself in purgatory, where he makes a deal with Satan: his hellbound lover for the souls of a thousand evil men. He is then resurrected and sent on his gruesome task. Though it is generally accepted by the group's core fanbase, the storyline is not readily apparent apart from the next album's cover and interior artwork and the song, "Demolition Lovers". This has led some to attribute its supposed existence to over-analysis on the part of hardcore fans. Another theme apparent on the album is the nature of vampires, as in both the undead creatures and, metaphorically speaking, those who seek to corrupt and exploit others. The song "Skylines and Turnstiles" was written shortly after the September 11 attacks and expressed feelings of sorrow and loss,"Early Sunsets over Monroeville" was inspired by the George A. Romero film Dawn of the Dead. Gerard himself describes it as "a sweet song about Dawn of the Dead", with the lyrics using references from the movie. Before the September 11 attacks, Gerard was working as a comic book writer and animator. He was working on a vampire comic which he never completed and he said that is the reason for the vampires in the lyrics. All songs written and composed by My Chemical Romance, except for "Romance".

The music Video made for Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough For The Two Of Us was first shown at the record release party of I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love in 2002, and was available online. It was not widely released until September 23, 2005 on the 2005 re-release of I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. The video was directed by Marc Debiak and Grey Sky Films It is similar to the movie Audition (directed by Takashi Miike). It is about a man looking for a spouse and after a series of interviews, he finds a woman. After their first date he tries to find where she lives and apparently cannot find her address. When he returns to his home, he pours himself a drink and after drinking it collapses on the floor. The woman comes out of a doorway. She then proceeds to torture the paralyzed man, putting needles in his chest and below his eye and chopping off his leg. This video was directed by John Armson.
The music video consists of My Chemical Romance tightly packed into a room where they play their instruments in very little color. In the video, Frank Iero is seen singing backup for Gerard Way along with lead guitar player Ray Toro. Gerard Way has said this song, "Skylines and Turnstiles" and "Headfirst for Halos" are the most important songs on the album.Though the video was shown at the record release show for My Chemical Romance's first album, it was only officially released when the album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love was re-released in 2005. The re-release included this music video, as well as the one for "Honey, This Mirror Isn't Big Enough for the Two of Us" The re-release also had an Eyeball Records CD included along with it.
